EU AI Act, Article 50: providers of AI systems that generate synthetic images, audio, video or text must mark the output in a machine-readable way so it can be detected as AI-generated, and deployers of deepfakes must disclose that content is artificially generated or manipulated. C2PA Content Credentials are one recognised way to carry that label; a missing label does not prove content is authentic.
